Grandpa Harry from Russia

My grandfather Harry Ross arrived at Ellis Island around 1904 at the age of 5. He was one of three children. He married Ida Levinson of Brooklyn. Together they lived on Cortelyou Road in Flatbush.

Harry lied about his age to enlist in the US Army in World War I. He loved to show me a hole in his leg where a "German" shot him. He also served in WWII as a master sergeant and was part of the US occupation army in Germany in 1945.

He was also a professional photographer.

Harry passed away in 1957 leaving his wife and daughters Lila and Marilyn.
